Athearn has announced the released of an HO Scale GP7 equipped with Santa Fe's "Topeka Cab". Some background:
In 1972, Santa Fe began rebuilding their GP7 and GP9 fleet with “chopped” short hoods for improved visibility and a host of internal improvements and upgrades. Model features:
All-new tooling
Three versions:
Phase I GP7u: 86” tall engine compartment doors
Phase II GP7u: 86” + 82” tall engine compartment doors
Phase II GP9u
“Topeka” cab with interior
“Blanked” dynamic brake housings where applicable

InterMountain Railway Co. announces its third variation of rebuilt Geep to its HO-scale product line with Santa Fe’s signature “Topeka Cab” diesels. The first Geep announced was Illinois Central/Illinois Central Gulf’s Paducah GP10. The second announcement for this series of diesel models was Seaboard Coast Line’s GP16. All three examples represent railroad rebuilding programs begun in the 1970s to gain new life from early production EMD GP7 and GP9 motive power.
InterMountain’s Santa Fe “Topeka Cab” Geep will be offered in standard DC and DCC equipped with SoundTraxx Tsunami sound. A source at InterMountain reports tooling is being cut on all three diesels and plans are to show early pre-production samples in the early part of 2014. Specifics on road numbers and details for InterMountain’s Santa Fe “Topeka Cab” release will be made official and presented in the near future.

Shipped to retailers on May 15, 2013, the new Genesis HO BNSF Low Headlight SD70ACe models are now available.
The second BNSF order for 40 SD70ACes was delivered in mid-late 2006. Like the previously offered SD70ACe, they included the standard cab. However, they differed by having nose-mounted headlights instead of cab-mounted headlights. Along with thirty units from the first order, they were modified early on by having a louvered vent cut into the box behind the cab on the left side.
For more information, click here.
The following models are available:
Annouced in December 2011, with the last production run of August 2008, Athearn started delivery to hobby shops of the HO Scale R-T-R BNSF Heritage II AC4400CWs today.
BNSF operates 118 AC4400CWs, numbers 5600 through 5717. The units are used mostly in coal service out of the Powder River basin in Wyoming, although they appear on other types of trains throughout the BNSF system. In coal service, they operate on run-through trains on the Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, CSX and Canadian National. BNSF AC4400CW locomotives feature the close-clearance “gull wing” cab, which has two angles on the cab roof rather than one. This allows the locomotives to clear all types of coal loaders.
Today, Lionel has announced the Great Northern P-S Freight Set.
The LEGACY equipped GP35 is powerful yet small enough to handle the curves of most layouts. Each of the three freight cars replicates a standard design by the Pullman Standard Company, one of the country’s largest freight car manufacturers. The GP35 is decorated in the Great Northern’s attractive green and orange scheme. An additional LEGACY and non-powered unit are also available for individual sale.
All of the cars feature operating couplers with hidden uncoupling tabs and all but the caboose have sprung metal trucks. The entire train will also operate on O-31 curves.
This great train retails for $829.99 and should be shipping later this month.

On 10 September 2012, Lionel discussed one of the biggest announcements from the Signature Catalog and that was the new Motor City Express Set, with scale 89' auto racks.
For us, the best part of the set is the BNSF Autorack, which can be found within the set as the last freight car, as it is distinguished from the other auto racks by having a non-working End-of-Train device attached. Another BNSF scale 89' auto rack can also be purchased separately.
Recently at the TCA York Meet, a production version of the Motor City Express Set was displayed. Below is a photo of the BNSF Auto Rack:

This 100 ton three bay covered hopper with elongated hatches is painted brown and bears the white BNSF logo and white lettering. It runs nationally on Barber Roller bearing trucks. Built in September 1971 as part of a combined order from the Burlington Northern Railroad and CB&Q subsidiary Colorado & Southern Railway, this car represents the sole merger-acquired high-capacity grain hoppers representing Gunderson. Cars in these series were assigned different car number series by BNSF due to the slightly different load volume capacities.

BNSF is currently utilizing the new Electric Motive Diesel SD32ECO locomotive model on its locomotive roster. The EMD SD32ECO is a 3,150 hp (2,350 kW) C-C diesel-electric locomotive rebuilt by Electro-Motive Diesel. It is primarily the application of a conversion kit to an existing EMD SD60-type locomotive. This involves replacing the existing 710G3A V16 prime mover with an EPA Tier-II-compliant 710G3B-T2 turbocharged V12, with Electronic fuel injection. Many of the donor SD60's major components and subsystems are recycled and are recertified as equal to new. However, the locomotive's control system is all new.
The new SD32ECO below, photographed by Mark Gillings utilizes a former Santa Fe SD45-2 as its base. It's rewarding to see former Santa Fe locomotives being utilized on today's modern railways instead of being hauled off for scrap.

With Maersk utilizing the Santa Fe Railway back in the day, this world-class shipping company is less than four months away from delivering the world's largest ship class, entitled "Triple E".
There will be 20 ships constructed and are called the 'Triple-E' class for the three main purposes behind their creation — economy of scale, energy efficiency and environmentally improved — the ships will set a new industry benchmark for size and fuel efficiency. Four-hundred metres long, 59 metres wide and 73 metres high, the Triple-E is the largest vessel of any type on the water today. Its 18,000 TEU (twenty-foot container) capacity is large enough to hold 111 million pairs of sneakers.

In 1896, a book was published in San Francisco that told in great detail about why Santa Fe built its San Joaquin Valley Lines, the history of the financing, the people involved and the story of the construction. The book is the "The Valley Road", and is illustrated. It is a history of the Traffic Association of California, the League of Progress, the North American Navigation Company, the Merchants' Shipping Association, and the San Francisco and San Joaquin Valley Railway, with portraits of representative men that advocate California's progress and industrial supremacy. Often the book is "printed" in modern fashion, and going for unreasonable rates. A PDF version of the book is now available here for free.

Word was received today of the passing of two very influential members of the ATSF Historical Preservation.
The first is Robert Michael Burton, who had passed away on 04 January 2013. Mr. Burton was an expert on Santa Fe's Slaton Division and other Panhandle areas, and known to be a serious researcher. His obituary can be found here. His numerous historical articles can be found on the Society's site, located at this location.
The second is Russ Covitt, who passed away on 03 January 2013. Mr. Covitt was the owner of Russ Rail Stuff, and associated with Lonestar Models. He was recently the co-chairman of the Society's convention.
All of us here at QStation offer our most sincere condolences to the families of both gentlemen - they will truly be missed!
Originally built in 1952 for the then-president of the CB&Q Harry Murphy, BNSF #1 has had many names, including CB&Q “Burlington” and BN’s “Mississipi River” - today it has been refitted and relabeled with BNSF’s new “Swoosh” logo and the name of former BN CEO Gerald Grinstein who was part of the merging of the BN and ATSF into the BNSF. This model will replicate many of the specific details of this particular car, including a custom built rear porch, dome antennas on the roof, and the new name plates that are mounted with the BNSF lettering atop the car’s corrugated ribbing.
Take a ride on the Super Chief on the MannM Railroad. This G scale Super Chief is manufactured by USA Trains but numerous details have been added to the train to enhance its appearance. The nearly 40 foot long Super Chief is led by four F3's in ABBA consist with 12 cars in tow.
