BNSF's 700 Series

This site is dedicated to BNSF's 700 series Dash-9 Warbonnet locomotives. The first part of this 100 engine order from General Electric will contain 'Santa Fe' on the cigar band, however most of the order will contain 'BNSF' on the cigar band.

Select BNSF #710 is leading two sister GE units (LMX lease) with a westbound intermodel train into the yard at East Sheridan, Wyoming on July 29, 1997 at 11:30 a.m. Photo courtesy of Paul Birkholz. You can also visit Paul at his web site.

Select BNSF #729, untouched with dust, waits to deliver her cargo to the KCS yards in Kansas City.

Select BNSF #737, pokes her head out the door at MidAmerica Inc. in Kansas City as the firm prepares her for a future career hauling BNSF intermodal freight. Notice that she carries
B N S F on her cigar band instead of the always familiar Santa Fe. Another era has past.
